The Downs is a grade II listed building in the South Downs conservation area. This historic building is part of a listed terrace, that oozes character.
The client was looking to extend the property to create a kitchen and dining area more suitable to modern requirements. Their keen interest in modernist architecture meant that we implemented a flowing design process, utilising 3D modelling and visualisation to test layouts, daylight impacts and materiality.
Sliding screens of rotating louvers have been introduced on the external façade to provide privacy to the leisure areas. A pitched glazed roof allows natural light to flood the new kitchen and dining area.
